[ARCHIVED] National Night Out on August 4th

The City of Lancaster and the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) are pleased to invite you and your community to participate in the “32nd Annual National Night Out” (NNO). National Night Out is a crime prevention event that allows neighborhoods across the nation to participate in a fun evening to meet-and-greet neighbors and ‘celebrate’ with City officials, including the Mayor, City Council members, City Administrators and various other City departments. Nationally, NNO will be observed on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, and in Texas again on October 6, 2015. To allow ample time and daylight, City leaders will be visiting participating neighborhoods on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. In addition, the City of Lancaster will be hosting a centralized, community-wide National Night Out event on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Lancaster Community Park.

“We have an opportunity to make the 2015 National Night Out event the biggest this City has ever seen”, explained Lancaster’s Police Chief, Cheryl Wilson. “It’s important to get out and meet your community!”

Neighborhoods are encouraged to support National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4th with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, and/or planning activities such as a cook-out or block party, hosting activities for kids and ice-breaker games for adults. This exciting event allows residents the opportunity to promote police-community partnerships; crime, drug and violence prevention; public safety; and neighborhood unity, sending a message to criminals that the neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime. For more information and to register your neighborhood to participate in National Night Out, please visit or call the City of Lancaster at (972) 218-1303.
