Beer and wine sales by retailers for off-premise consumption was approved by the voters of Lancaster November 2010. May 2004, Lancaster voters approved the sale of mixed beverages, beer, and wine for restaurants.
An application is required to obtain a local permit to serve and / or sell alcohol within the City of Lancaster, as well as the appropriate permits(s) from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. The Office of the City Secretary processes applications for local permits.

The City of Lancaster collects local fees according to the state schedule (2-year renewal). Fees are assessed at 1-half the amount of the state fee in accordance with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code (TABC) and are non-refundable.
