About the City Secretary's Office

The City Secretary's Office administers all city elections; is the custodian of Municipal records including Council Minutes, resolutions, ordinances, contracts, and other documents vital to the history of the City; and coordinates board and commission appointments.

The City Secretary's Office provides information to the public in accordance with the City Charter and Texas State Law (Public Information Act). The public’s right-to-know is vital to an accountable, citizen-centered government.

The City Secretary prepares the agenda for all council meetings and keeps minutes of those meetings. Agendas and minutes of meetings are available to the public.

City elections are administered by the City Secretary's Office. Voters must register at least 30 days prior to an election to be able to vote in any election. You may check to see if you are a registered voter, and to obtain your voting location at the following website: Dallas County Votes. Results of the elections are available the evening of the election on the city's website.

Board and commission appointments are made on an annual basis in December of each year  and during the year as vacancies occur. The City Secretary's Office coordinates the annual board and commission appointments.
